“There’s a simple rule to prevent damage caused by a towbar left on an airplane: If the towbar is attached to the airplane, it’s also in your hand, no exceptions. If the towbar is not in your hand, it is not attached to the airplane, no exceptions.
When you are done moving the airplane with the towbar, immediately stick it in the baggage compartment, tuck it against the nosewheel (if you are parking the airplane), or in a secure spot away from the airplane. “
